Strainstall has many years of experience in providing monitoring systems for the fossil fuel industry and our ability to specify and install strain gauges and thermocouples for extreme high temperature environments has been used many times by UK and Irish power companies.
Boilers, high pressure pipework and turbines often require on-site measurements, in order to check performance or to understand problems. In some cases, the monitoring takes the form of short term tests to monitor the effects of start-up, operation and shut-down, and in others a permanent monitoring system is provided. We also provide a service to fit strain gauges onto turbine blades and shafts and use telemetry techniques to record data at high speed (10,000's of samples per second). This is often combined with vibration monitoring, for which specialist equipment is deployed.
