It is often necessary to monitor the effects of construction works on neighbouring buildings, particularly in built-up urban areas. Building works can cause ground movements that result in changes to the structural integrity of nearby buidings, so monitoring systems are installed to warn asset owners should this occur, enabling them to take preventative action where required. Strainstall uses a comprehensive selection of measurement methods, including robotic total stations with prismatic targets. Other devices used for this work include crackmeters and tiltmeters. In most cases, building movement monitoring systemsare provided with remote access to the data and the ability to generate alarms (by email or SMS) if trigger levels are exceeded.
